Outsourcing Effecting the US

Post  sanjeeva on Fri Mar 26, 2010 9:52 am

Americans are at risk of losing their jobs, especially if they pursued what were once known as"safe"jobs, such as computer programmers, technicians, or jobs in the manufacturing area. Americans educated themselves in what were once jobs that were thought to offer a secure future. By 1986, 15 million high paying manufacturing jobs had left the United States. Thousands more are expected to be outsourced to countries like India, China, Hong Kong, Panama, Manila, the Philippines, and other countries where the citizens speak reasonable English. Jobs are moving offshore to countries where the people will work for pennies a day. Anything above a dollar is the beginning of middle class wealth. People in these offshore areas are willing to work for less money, without a union, without health benefits ,401k's or any of the other perks that the American worker earned .

If you are a physician, nurse, medical technician, or a physical therapist you can consider yourself safe for the time being. Draftsmen, architects, graphic designers and anyone who works in a computer related field are at great risk of losing their job to someone who is willing to do the same work for less money.

We must safeguard ourselves by being re-educated in the eventual possibility that we may need to fit into a new workforce.
